Customer Satisfaction is a Priority of NSSFNS! Here are Just a Few of the Many Sentiments Expressed by Our Customers:
On behalf of the St. Louis Public Schools and the surrounding school
districts, I would like to thank the National Scholarship Service
(NSSFNS) for having a Student College Interview Session (SCIS) or
college fair for our students. It is very important for our students to
meet with college representatives, obtain applications and discuss
their post-secondary options. This year more than fifty (50) high
schools participated and over one thousand three hundred (1300)
students took advantage of your college fair. The college
representatives were varied and very knowledgeable. Mr. Ector and staff
efficiently ran the fair itself. It was evident that a lot of work and
fore thought was put into execution of the college fair. We look
forward to the NSSFNS College Fair returning to St. Louis and being an
integral part of our students educational needs.
- Essie Harrison, Supervisor, Guidance and Counseling
West Liberty State College has participated in the National
Scholarship Service (NSSFNS) Student College Interview Sessions (SCIS)
for over 13 years. The NSSFNS is highly organized and student focused.
It provides our recruiters the opportunity to connect with a large
number of talented, motivated and qualified students. The exchange of
information with parents, students and guidance counselors has enhanced
our recruiting process. West Liberty State College has been able to
build a relationship with some of the secondary schools in attendance.
I look forward to participating in future sessions.
- Carole Harris, Minority Coordinator/Professor
In todays challenging society the services of the National
Scholarship Service (NSSFNS) has touched the lives of many students
seeking access to college. Having been a partner with NSSFNS has truly
increased the number of youth we are able to reach and serve. The
Houston Area Urban League truly believes that Our Children=Our Destiny
and there is no greater way to help our children than to give them
guidance and exposure to different colleges via the NSSFNS College
Fair. Through this event we have seen both parents and students develop
a greater knowledge of the admissions and financial aid process. Job
well done! Keep up the good work!!
- Nicki Moore, Education Specialist.
The quality of a product is generally one of the biggest factors in
repeat sales of that product, but usually only after it has, first,
been successfully marketed. This is a truth that Grove City College
(GCC) recognizes, and two years ago when the college became interested
in recruiting African American students it relied heavily on the
National Scholarship Services (NSSFNS) sessions to market itself black
students. Grove City College, like many colleges, have had and continue
to have a difficult time creating a diverse community of students of
color, but participating in NSSFNS events provides GCC with the
necessary infrastructure for success without having to reinvent the
wheel.
- Sam Heastie, Ed.D, Special Assistant to the President & Assistant Professor of Psychology
The National Scholarship Service presents an excellent platform for
interviewing and identifying academically talented African American
students. In my 25 years in college admissions, the National
Scholarship Service sessions have consistently ranked among the best
quality recruitment fairs across the country. This program alone has
had a tremendous impact on our recruitment efforts.
- Carl J. Thomas, Associate Director of Admissions, Berea College
"I have worked with the Scholarship Service for seven years now, and
I can say nothing but good things about NSSFNS. In my experiences in
higher education at The University of Toledo, it is crucial for
students to be prepared to go to college. NSSFNS definitely prepares
their student participants. I'm always impressed with the caliber of
students who attend NSSFNS fairs, they ask the right questions and have
a true desire to continue their education at a college or university."
- Leslie A. Raines, Assoc. Dir. of Multicultural Recruitment and Outreach
The National Scholarship Service (NSSFNS) has for many years played
a critical role in providing access to Higher Education. It has
assisted students in obtaining specific information about a variety of
different kinds of postsecondary institutions and provided an
opportunity for colleges and universities to tap into a large pool of
talented students (many of whom have been underserved). In addition it
has allowed many parents, high school counselors, agencies and other
organizations seeking to aide students gain entrance into higher
education a format for exchanging and disseminating information. Hobart
and William Smith Colleges has participated in the Student College
Interview Sessions for many years because these services to be valuable
and rewarding. We applaud NSSFNS for its effort and look forward to
continuing our professional relationship with them.
- Edward M. Blackwell, Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid
Opportunities present itself through education and in this day and
time a degree of higher learning is a must not a necessity. The
National Scholarship Service has provided students from across the
United States the opportunity to receive information from
Colleges/Universities under one umbrella. Benedict College has been
participating in the NSSFNS College Fairs for the past 15 years, and I
have been personally attending for more than five years. Each program
(college fair) I have attended has been strategically organized by the
staff and well attended by the students in every location. The staff of
NSSFNS first welcomes students and give them a brief overview of the
session and financial aid. Students have the opportunity to speak with
and ask questions of the recruiters/admissions counselors one-on-one,
and some even bring transcripts for evaluation. Guidance Counselors
come to speak with representatives and to collect valuable information
on the colleges present or leave information on their respective
schools. I personally thank each staff of NSSFNS and encourage them to
continue their hard work and dedication to our future. Without NSSFNS,
many of these students would not have the opportunity to speak
personally with representatives from various colleges.
- Phyllis L. Thompson, Director of Admissions and Student Marketing
Since 1999 I have had the distinct privilege to volunteer as a
co-coordinator and a speaker with the National Scholarship Service and
Fund for Negro Students (NSSFNS) in Houston Texas. Success is
contagious and each year the attendance gets better. Students and
parents arrive prepared to receive the recruiters and they leave
empowered and in command of their college bound process as a result of
the Student College Interview Session (SCIS). The week before NSSFNS
arrives in Houston, our organization, Center of Academic Preparation to
Higher Education (CAPHE), Inc. would have participated in at least 25
local college fairs at various high schools. None of these fairs are as
personable as NSSFNS. Having a Saturday schedule affords the students
and parents more time to speak with recruiters and to feel a since of
accomplishment. I first heard about NSSFNS while living oversees during
the early 90s. As their mission was explained to me, I remembered
commenting on how great it was to have a national organization that
cared about students and met them in their local area. In my infinite
wisdom, I was not aware that I would one day be the director of an
organization that also cares for college bound students and their
families and working with NSSFNS. As a co-sponsor of the Houston SCIS
we have the opportunity to be conduit and an advocate for families in
our surrounding cities. NSSFNS is truly an asset in higher education
planning.
